About Marpue's House
Marpue's House is a nonprofit organisation based in Liberia, Buchanan, founded by Julia Ducan Cassel, former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection. We are dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged girls, women and children. This is a great space to share our story, the opportunities we provide, and the impact we aim to create. We invite you to learn more about our team and what makes us different.
Our Founder
Julia Duncan-Cassell
Julia Duncan-Cassell served with distinction as Liberia’s Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection under President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Africa’s first female head of state. Julia has been a tireless advocate for women’s rights, child protection, and community development for over two decades. Today, she brings that same leadership and integrity to Marpue House.

Our Mission
At Marpue's House, our mission is to uplift lives through education, shelter, health, and empowerment, providing comprehensive support to underprivileged girls, women, and children in Liberia. We aim to create opportunities for education, healthcare, and personal development, enabling them to build a brighter future.
Our Vision
A Liberia where every woman and child lives with dignity and opportunity envisions a society where every girl, woman, and child has the chance to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. We imagine a future where empowerment and equality are the cornerstones of our community.
What We Do

Education Access
We provide school supplies, tuition assistance, uniforms, and mentoring for girls who might otherwise be left behind. Through scholarships and after-school programs, we keep young girls in the classroom and off the streets.

Women's Empowerment
Our adult literacy and vocational training programs help women break the cycle of poverty. We support women to start small businesses, gain financial independence, and become community leaders.

Child Protection & Advocacy
We work with local leaders to identify and support vulnerable children, orphans, street children, and victims of abuse. Marpue House offers safe spaces, trauma support, and child rights education.

Health & Hygiene Initiatives
Through community workshops and direct aid, we tackle maternal health, menstrual dignity, malnutrition, and access to clean water, basic needs that remain unmet for many.
